Melissa has worked in the innovation space for over 6 years. She has been a part of the Nairobi technology community. During this time, she led the iHub Consulting initiative and worked with Ushahidi as part of the team managing Making All Voices Count, a USD 50 million fund supporting civic tech startups in Africa and Asia. She also led the conceptualization and production of Kenya's first youth-focused reality TV show called “The Expedition” in collaboration with Level One Communications, a pioneer production company in East Africa. Melissa co-founded Ed 10 Consortium, a collective that used social media to gather the public's input into the Kenyan education curriculum and submitted this in a memorandum to the Kenya Institute of Curriculum Development in 2016. She has also served on the advisory board of School Series, a non-profit that coaches young people on leadership. Her passion for the arts and business drives her vision for a thriving creative economy in Africa. Melissa has a Bachelor's degree in Business and Information Technology from Strathmore University in Nairobi and a Masters in Development Management from the University of Birmingham in UK.
Ian is a founding partner at MNM Consulting, where he assists in developing and implementing the firm’s overall strategy. He has worked in financial services for three and a half years, most recently at Kestrel Capital (East Africa), where he was an Equity Research Analyst. While at Kestrel Capital, Ian conducted research and investment analysis on companies listed on the manufacturing, insurance and investment sectors of the Kenyan stock exchange that informed the firm's clients' investment decisions. Prior to that, Ian was a financial journalist at Abacus, Kenya’s only online multi-asset class brokerage agent, where he wrote news articles, advertorials, tutorials and opinion pieces on finance-related subjects. Ian has a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and Marketing from Strathmore University in Nairobi and is currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Public Relations and Corporate Communication at New York University. He has also passed Level One of the CFA (Chartered Financial Analyst) Program.
